In order to see the following examples in ORBISNAP, download and unzip them to your local directory, then open the corresponding main scene file in ORBISNAP. You can download ORBISNAP here.

The examples can be viewed also directly using standard VRML 97 browser plug-ins by clicking the corresponding "View virtual scene" links.

Below are some examples that were created using Simulink 3D Animation, a tool that lets you view and interact with dynamic system simulations in a 3-D virtual reality environment. All of the behavioral dynamics of the examples are being driven by MATLAB® and Simulink® developed by The MathWorks, Inc. that allow effective creating dynamic models of real systems physics.   Read more.

Vehicle Dynamics Visualization with ESP / without ESP System
This example shows the visualization of a hardware-in-the-loop simulation being modeled by MATLAB and Simulink. In this example, the vehicle is being tested under various conditions on a testing circuit.

Crash Test with Airbag / without Airbag
This example shows a virtual reality visualization of an airbag influence during frontal crash tests. The dynamics of this simulation are being modeled using Simulink and SimMechanics. The effect of correctly deployed airbag is clearly visible - the passenger upper body movement is cushioned so that the head does not hit any part of the car. The movements are slowed down 3 times.

Power Window Controller
Virtual reality representation of the anti-pinch window lift-mechanism allows studying the geometry of the design in combination with its modeled dynamics using Simulink, SimMechanics, and SimPowerSystems. According to safety standards, car power windows need to reverse direction before exerting a squeezing force of 100 to avoid accidental injuries.

Robot Arm
This model is a visualization of a detailed dynamic model of the Siemens Manutec r3 robot. All of the important physical effects are included in the dynamic model using SimMechanics, notably: the multibody dynamics, Coulomb friction, elasticity and damping in the gearboxes, the dynamics of the motors including the current controller and the tachogenerators, and the cascade controllers. All of the parameters of this model were obtained by experiment and can be found in the following paper. This model is used as a demanding benchmark to test the simulation capabilites of robot simulation packages.

Conveyor Model
Simulation of a conveyor loader guided by a feedback controller with saturation limit and anti-windup logic using Simulink and SimMechanics. Controller actuates revolute crank to move pusher to a user-set reference position.

Solar System
This model represents the dynamics of inner Solar System (Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth + Moon, Mars). For visualization purposes, the relative planet sizes to their distances and the distance between Moon and Earth were adjusted. Otherwise, the model is a good approximation of Solar system dynamics.

Plane Take-off
This example represents a simplified aircraft taking-off from a runway. There are several viewpoints defined in this model, both static and attached to the plane, allowing you to see the take-off from various perspectives.

Inverted Pendulum
A model of a 2-dimensional inverted pendulum controlled by a PID controller. VRML PlaneSensor output is used to change the setpoint (green cone) when the model is simulated in Simulink.

Heat Transfer
This example illustrates the use of the Simulink 3D Animation product with the MATLAB interface for manipulating complex objects. Unlike in previous examples, where single object properties (typically positions and rotations) are controlled by the dynamic model (realized in Simulink / SimMechanics), in this demonstration, matrix-type data is transferred between MATLAB and the virtual reality world. Using this feature, you can achieve massive color changes, morphing and other distributed parameters visualizations. This is useful for visualizing various physical phenomena. We use precalculated data of time-based temperature distribution in an L-shaped metal block and send that data to the virtual world.
